This is the routine, gold-standard safety check performed after a TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate) surgery for an enlarged prostate (BPH). The "chips" of prostate tissue that your surgeon removes to relieve your symptoms are sent to our lab. Our pathologists meticulously examine 100% of this tissue under a microscope. The goal is to definitively confirm the diagnosis of benign (non-cancerous) enlargement and, most importantly, to screen for any small, "incidental" (hidden) areas of prostate cancer. This is a non-negotiable, routine part of your surgical care, providing complete peace of mind and ensuring you have a full, conclusive diagnosis.
